Star Tracks - Weekly Horoscope for the Week of April 14, 2025

A chess board with glass chess pieces.

A week that sees the chess board rearranging itself, this is your weekly horoscope for the week of April 14, 2025: The personal planets Mercury and Mars are on the move, heading face first into the fire element. And, interestingly enough, these planets have been-there-done-that before! Mercury moves back into Aries after dipping into Pisces for a few weeks, and Mars blazes back into Leo after his months-long reverse into Cancer. Both of these shifts should bring welcome energetic changes, as neither Mercury nor Mars enjoys spending time in Pisces or Cancer, respectively. The Sun also moves into Taurus during the weekend, signaling that spring has hit its stride here in the northern hemisphere. The Moon is waning towards her new phase. She starts the week in Scorpio, entering Sagittarius Tuesday evening. Friday morning sees her donning business casual for her jaunt through Capricorn, and she lands in Aquarius Sunday night to finish out the weekend.

Wednesday, April 16, 2025 - Mercury enters Aries (2:25 a.m.)

Mercury reenters Aries after a brief but poignant retrograde dip back into Pisces. I don’t know about you, but his regression into Pisces was particularly brutal for me, so I’m happy to see him back in the fire element. The fog starts to lift now, but we aren’t completely out of the woods just yet. He won’t clear his retrograde shadow for a few more days. Still, Mercury in Aries is decidedly more straightforward than Mercury in Pisces could ever be, and any new beginnings that feel like they should have gotten off the ground already can really start to see movement, at last. Mercury in Aries is big, hot potato energy. Already quick in his own right, Aries puts even more pep in Mercury’s step. You’ll have all the mental stamina that you need while he’s here, but not a ton of foresight. That’s the tradeoff. The Ram is famous for headbutting its way through life, firmly believing that it is better to ask for forgiveness than permission. Soldier on, because you certainly can, but stay mindful. Mercury-in-Aries’ sharp, blunt and no-nonsense tone can be too much for those who are still reeling from their Piscean hangover. Mercury is here until May 10th, when he enters Taurus.

Thursday, April 17, 2025 - Mercury conjoins Neptune (0° Aries)

Fresh into Aries, Mercury meets up with Neptune for the first of many conjunctions here in the latter’s new terrain. This is otherworldly energy that could see you briefly feeling like Mercury never actually left Pisces at all. Don’t fret, that nightmare is well and truly over. But, like Pisces, Neptune also has a deleterious effect on Mercury, making it somewhat difficult for his baseline logic to shine through. You may feel a little forgetful today, or simply unmotivated. Keeping a timely schedule or putting together a linear thought aren’t as easy as you’d like right now. But intuitively, you know what’s up. If you can afford it, use today to daydream, create and imagine the possibilities. Get some ideas down on paper, but don’t feel any urgency to commit to them just yet. This Neptune cycle is still brand-spanking-new, and this is the first time Mercury has seen Neptune in Aries in well over a century. It’s a transit known for innovation, so let Mercury plant some seeds for you today. Things are still more than a little murky.

Friday, April 18, 2025 - Mars enters Leo (12:21 a.m.)

Mars finally reaches Leo today, a sign he originally made it to back in November, but left in early January due to his biennial retrograde. This Mars retrograde was a doozy. Truth be told, they are all kind of rough since Mars rules our motivation; but this one mostly took place in Cancer, the sign of Mars’ fall. So in addition to being lazy, Mars has also been supremely cranky for the past three months. That ends today, as he gets back into the fire element and his mojo returns. For the next two months, Mars moves through Leo, clearing his retrograde shadow and returning to full speed. Here, he is confident, expressive and extremely passionate. This is enthusiastic energy that motivates us to tackle challenges and pursue creative endeavors. Shadow Mars in Leo has a debilitating flare for the dramatic; his confidence becomes too egocentric (read: cocky), and his pride is easily hurt, leading to petulant outbursts. Even still, this transit will feel worlds better than the trek through Cancer did! Mars will be here until June 17, 2025, when he heads into Virgo.

Saturday, April 19, 2025 - The Sun enters Taurus (3:56 p.m.)

Taurus season begins today, signaling that spring has hit its stride here in the northern hemisphere. Gardeners UNITE! Taurus is the fixed earth sign, the second of twelve houses. It is ruled by the planet Venus, and its mantra is, “I Have.” Taurus is the most sensual of the twelve signs, experiencing life through its eyes, ears, nose and mouth, and especially through touch, more so than any other. It marks the spot on the zodiac wheel when the soul becomes aware of its new meatsuit, and sets out to learn how to keep it alive for the duration of its incarnation. Thus, Taurus is an extremely corporeal energy. Being Venus-ruled, it is also supremely concerned with material comfort and personal values. Taureans are here to survive, but also to thrive, and they do that by expertly gathering resources. Shadow Taurus is vain, possessive, stubborn and fearful. When survival is the name of your game, everything becomes a matter of life or death. It is also the most fertile, stable and consistent of the signs, bringing comfort and a place to find stillness when the storms rage all around you. For the next little while, dig into the energy of the bovine. The Sun is here until May 20th, when it heads into Gemini.

Sunday, April 20, 2025 - Venus sextile Uranus (25° Pisces to Taurus); Mercury sextile Pluto (3° Aries to Aquarius); Sun square Mars (1° Taurus to Leo)

Two out of three ain’t bad! We have a whole lotta movement today, with three separate aspects perfecting across the zodiac - two of which are gentle and pleasant, and one of which is decidedly not. Venus sextile Uranus has technically been in play for a couple of weeks now, as Venus hasn’t moved much since turning direct. It’s stimulating, fun but fleeting energy that can see you wanting to break free from stagnant routines and relationships (assuming you haven’t already done so). Mercury sextile Pluto has also shown up a few times lately. This aspect makes us curious, probing and investigative. It’s a great time to engage in deep and meaningful conversations, or in profound research. Be careful what you look for, though, because this sextile will ensure that you find it! Taken together with Venus/Uranus, there is some seriously dynamic relationship energy around us today. But do be cautious, because Sun square Mars in the fixed signs of Taurus and Leo is willful, challenging and super defensive. People will be prickly if this one is hitting them, leading to clashes of ego and attempts at domination. With all three of the personal planets embroiled in something bigger than themselves, relationships can get really spicy today. May the odds be ever in your favor!
