Mercury is our star player this week - this is your weekly horoscope for the week of May 5, 2025: The Winged Messenger planet is making three out of the four aspects that we’ll see in the coming days. Otherwise, it’s pretty quiet! Well, as quiet as it can be with Aries energy being stirred up all week. But by the end of the weekend, Venus will be the only personal planet still bringing up the rear - Mercury heads into Taurus on Saturday morning. The Moon is waxing towards full. She’s still in Leo through the morning on Monday, but moves into meticulous Virgo that afternoon. Thursday sees her seeking equilibrium in Libra; and she enters sultry Scorpio on Saturday, where she finishes the weekend and prepares for next week’s Full Moon showdown with the Taurus Sun.
Read on for more detailed planetary aspects. All times listed are based on the USA Eastern Time Zone.
Monday, May 5, 2025 - Mercury sextile Jupiter (22° Aries to Gemini)
Good news could be coming your way today, as Mercury throws an easy sextile to Jupiter in Gemini, a sign ruled by the former. Jupiter is in one of Mercury’s houses, and the sextile is an angle of ease, so there’s nothing bad to say about this energy - it’s smooth sailing all day, at least from a logistical perspective. Making plans for the future is supported, as your outlook on things is naturally broadened by this aspect, and positive thinking is basically assured. Communication skills also receive a nice boost, so if there’s a conversation that needs to happen, today’s the day to initiate it. Traits like diplomacy, friendliness and tact are fully accessible to you now. It’s an ideal time for signing contracts or negotiating better circumstances, so go ahead and advocate for yourself or others. Jupiter says the answer will be a resounding YES!
Tuesday, May 6, 2025 - Venus sextile Pluto Rx (3° Aries to Aquarius); Mercury conjunct Chiron (24° Aries)
Another easy sextile on the menu today, with Venus winking at newly retrograde Pluto. Now if I’m being honest, this sextile isn’t as benign as yesterday’s. Pluto is involved, which always brings some darkness. Additionally, this is the final sextile in a series of three between these two, dating back to February 7th, 2025. So this isn’t just a one-off aspect, it’s part of a larger lesson. Venus sextile Pluto unearths secretive desires, and compels us to love on a deeper level than we’re used to. Have you been engaged in an emotional deep dive since early February? And if so, how’s that going for you? The lesson of this series should be driven home now, so pay attention. We also have a conjunction between Mercury and Chiron to contend with, which can cause us to say (or hear) the quiet part out loud. This is the blunt, impulsive and painfully honest conversation about what’s been hurting you - possibly connected to the deep dive you just wrapped up under Venus/Pluto. This energy isn’t particularly comfortable since Chiron often elevates our wounds, but you stand to benefit from exerting your will. Push through the pain.
Saturday, May 10, 2025 - Mercury enters Taurus (8:15 a.m.)
Mercury enters Taurus today, where he is grounded, practical and patient. No impulsive decisions need be made under this transit - the Bull firmly believes that slow and steady wins the race, and is in no real hurry to change its mind, in any event. Mercury in Taurus is no frills. He can communicate his values clearly and concisely, without needing to embellish at all. This combination also encourages us to be more deliberate in both word and deed. Take your time, and consider all of the angles while Mercury is here. This transit can be particularly maddening for Mercury-ruled people, who are used to moving through life at lightning speed. That really won’t work for you now. Do your best to go with the slow-as-molasses-flow. Focus your attention on the material world around you, and consider where you’ve been stubborn or immovable mentally. There’s always something we’re stuck on! Mercury will be back up to full speed shortly - he enters Gemini on May 25th.
