Star Tracks - Weekly Horoscope for the Week of February 17, 2025

A hand reaching up out of dark water

Pisces energy takes over, while the personal planets Mercury and Mars continue a months’ long conversation. This is your weekly horoscope for the week of February 17, 2025. The Sun enters Pisces very early Tuesday morning, bringing the grand total of planets/points in the collective Twelfth House up to five, which is a LOT of Pisces energy. Solid ground evades us for a bit under these stars! Mercury makes a couple of aspects, and Mars rounds out the week, finally turning direct in Cancer. The Moon is waning towards new. She wraps up her time in Libra on Monday and moves into Scorpio, where she stays through Thursday morning. She’s in Sagittarius through Saturday night, and ends the weekend in Capricorn.

Tuesday, February 18, 2025 - Sun enters Pisces (5:07 a.m.)

The Sun moves into Pisces today, signaling the true end of the natural year, and the beginning of our collective transition into spring. Pisces is the last sign of the Zodiac - house number twelve of twelve. It is the omega, where everything goes to dissolve, die or resolve. It’s a boundaryless house of endings, where literally nothing rests on terra firma. If you have planets or other sensitive placements in Pisces, you know exactly what I’m talking about. Try as you might, you can only make those planets work in your favor if you completely release their energies into the wild. Attempts to control them inevitably result in misery, as Pisces simply cannot be contained. One of the mantras of this sign is, “Serve or Suffer,” which is a testament to exactly what goes on here. Sure, you have free will and can make choices on your own; but the energy of Pisces says that the only way you can keep what you have is by freely giving it away. So, good luck trying to make sense of that! For the next month, we all get to bask in the fresh hell that is Pisces. Undoubtedly, there will be serene moments when you are positively certain that you sit in the palm of God’s hand. But for the most part, we’ll be struggling to tie up loose ends, to make sense of the senseless, to put form around the formless, and to surrender our friggin' egos, yet again. Ho hum. The Sun moves into Aries, triggering the Spring Equinox, on March 20th.

Thursday, February 20, 2025 - Mercury square Jupiter (11° Pisces to Gemini)

Too much of a good thing might be in the cards for you today, as Mercury in Pisces squares Jupiter in Gemini. This energy gives abundant mental energy and an extremely broad outlook, making it ideal for long term planning. However, the square is a tense aspect. Squares to Jupiter usually manifest as overabundance: too many choices, too much to consider, too many chefs spoiling the damn soup. So moderation will be called for, if you can manage it. One good thing about this particular square is that the planets involved are in mutual reception with each other. Mercury is in one of Jupiter’s houses, and Jupiter is in one of Mercury’s houses. When this happens, there is a camaraderie that overtakes the energy, and that can easily negate any harshness that might otherwise result from the tension of the square. Today may well bring more than you bargained for in some very real sense. But it is likely to be exactly the type of “too much” that you need.

Sunday, February 23, 2025 - Mercury trine Mars Rx (17° Pisces to Cancer); Mars turns direct (17° Cancer, 6:00 p.m.)

Today has a busy feel to it, as Mercury trines a stationed Mars, who then turns direct. Mercury trine Mars is a bit similar to the Mercury square Jupiter energy we experienced earlier in the week, in that it brings tons of mental energy to the surface. But unlike Jupiter, who simply wants to broaden your horizons and help you make some plans when he hooks up with Mercury, Mars wants us to actually move. Planning isn’t enough, Mars wants us to take some calculated risks now. Focused conversations are best had under this aspect, as are spirited debates. Your communication style should be honest, straightforward and quite persuasive. Mars is super potent all day, turning direct this evening after more than two months of retrograde motion. You may remember that he reversed at 6° Leo back on December 6th; since that time, he has been asking us to reevaluate what motivates us, where we act impulsively, our overall level of petulance, how we regulate our moods, and whether we channel our anger constructively. Spoiler alert: we don’t do any of those things very efficiently at all, which is why Mars retrograded back into Cancer, the sign of his fall. So, if that list made you cringe, you’re right where you’re supposed to be, and all is not lost. Mars slowly starts to creep forward now, giving us ample opportunity to course correct, as needed. The Mars retrograde cycle ends on May 3rd, when our warrior planet crosses 6° Leo for a final time.
