A crystal ice ball on a bed of snow and ice flakes

Aquarius, our collective Eleventh House (and a personal favorite sign of mine), dominates the sky this week. Here is your weekly horoscope for the week of January 27, 2025! With Mercury joining the Sun, high-fiving Pluto, and a New Moon activating the first decan of the sign, Aquarius is where it's at for the foreseeable future. Ruling planet Uranus turns direct in Taurus mid-week, and Jupiter in Gemini sends some love to the Sun in Aquarius as well. The only non-Aquarius-themed energy we will get comes towards the end of the week, courtesy of Venus and Neptune in Pisces. Besides that, cool detachment and cold, hard logic is all we can reasonably expect. The Moon is waning towards New. She starts her week in Capricorn, entering Aquarius Tuesday late morning. She is reaches her new phase in Aquarius early Wednesday. Thursday sees her floating into Pisces, and on Saturday night she bursts into Aries, where she will spend the rest of her weekend.

Monday, January 27, 2025 - Mercury enters Aquarius (9:53 p.m.)

Mercury, our trickster planet of thoughts, communication, and transportation, enters Aquarius tonight and becomes one extremely happy camper. Aquarius is the sign of his exaltation, so he is absolutely firing on all cylinders for the next little while. Get ready to break some rules! Progressive, brilliant and rebellious, Mercury in Aquarius thrives on unconventional methods of self-expression. These natives are the jack-of-all-trades type, and they manage to master more than a few! Naturally intelligent and well-rounded in his interests, Mercury in Aquarius exudes an easy, cool confidence that is impossible to fake. He cares deeply about humanitarian issues, but is insanely practical in his approach to said issues. Don’t bother trying to weaponize emotions against him, he’s impervious to such entreaties. Come with detached honesty, integrity and well-thought out solutions, or don’t bother. Mercury won’t get in the trenches with you while he’s here; there’s simply too much to learn, and no time to be wasted. This is a short trip for Mercury - he moves into Pisces on February 14th.

Tuesday, January 28, 2025 - Mercury conjunct Pluto (1° Aquarius)

Ever the gatekeeper, Pluto tags Mercury on his way into Aquarius today. Technically their conjunction takes place overnight tonight; but since Pluto’s energy is so pervasive when it hits, we are likely to feel this exchange all day. Mercury conjunct Pluto infuses the former with a depth and an intensity that he wouldn’t otherwise experience in the cool landscape of Aquarius. We are probing now, and possibly feeling more than a little paranoid. Pluto can definitely chip away at some of the confidence that Mercury usually enjoys in this sign. It’s a great day to try and get to the bottom of something that’s been dogging you, or to engage in some serious self-reflection. Be very mindful if you decide to turn this energy on yourself though, because it can trigger all sorts of nervous conditions that will ruin your whole day. As always with Pluto, steer clear of power struggles, and for God sake do NOT try and manipulate any situations you encounter now. Sure, you can win the battle under these stars. But if you’re out of integrity, it will be a pyrrhic victory - you will not win the war.

Wednesday, January 29, 2025 - New Moon at 9° Aquarius (7:36 a.m.)

The New Aquarius Moon perfects early this morning. It is beautifully aspected by a trine from Jupiter Rx in Gemini, which brings feelings of warmth, generosity, and optimism to the day. Since the energy involves two air signs, all forms of communication and socialization are highly favored now. Get out there and mingle - you’ll reap immediate benefits! Jupiter/Moon trines boost our imagination, creativity and intuition. You may experience prophetic dreams or “gut” feelings now, and if you do, trust them! They are bubbling up from a subconscious place - it’s your soul trying to get your attention - to remind you that YOU create your own reality, so create the one you want! Intentions set under an Aquarius New Moon should lead with the head as opposed to the heart; they should push boundaries, and they should aim for long lasting change that benefits as many people as possible. This is a great time to make a wish, to break with old, stale patterns, and to usher in new, more progressive ways of being.

Thursday, January 30, 2025 -  Uranus direct at 23° Taurus (11:22 a.m.); Sun trine Jupiter Rx (11° Aquarius to Gemini)

Uranus, our Great Awakener, finally wakes his ass up after a many months-long snooze-fest in Taurus. He went retrograde at 27° Taurus on September 1st, 2024, ushering in nearly 5 months of introspection in the Taurus sector of our charts. Taurus is a sign that is very concerned with defining our values. When it finds a winning formula, the Bull sticks with that formula as though its life depends upon it - because in Taurus, just about everything is a matter of life or death. When survival is the name of the game, as it is in Taurus, change is regarded as the enemy. Uranus has been shaking things up here since 2018, however, forcing change on the Bull, whether he likes it or not (he doesn’t). Integration of the most recent slate of changes ends today, as we prepare for our Sky God’s last major push out of the sign. Expect to be shaken extra hard in the coming months. The Sun receives a trine from Jupiter today as well, encouraging spiritual growth. This trine will infuse the day with optimism, enthusiasm and contentment; and, if we’re fortunate, he’ll bring us enough luck to offset any side effects from the awakening of the Great Awakener.

Saturday, February 1, 2025 - Venus conjunct Neptune (27° Pisces)

An outlier day in a week filled with eccentric, airy energy, Venus meets up with big brother Neptune in Pisces. Neptune is the higher octave of Venus, meaning that the two planets embody the same basic principles - one on a more personal level (Venus), the other on a more transpersonal level (Neptune). Thus, when octaves unite, we experience a day when our conscious and subconscious expressions of certain values (love, in this case) are aligned. The strength of this energy cannot be overstated, since both Neptune and Venus enjoy heightened status in Pisces. Both are as strong as they can be now. New romance is possible under these stars, as is deep spiritual bonding in an existing relationship. Absolutely everyone can benefit from higher levels of compassion. The only potential negative is having a harsh reality exposed, but that’s only likely if you’ve been avoiding or denying. Overall, it is a day to relax as much as possible, because motivation is hard to come by. Steer clear of aggressive situations.

Venus, our planet of love, money and relating, quietly slips into her pre-retrograde shadow this week, kicking off a months-long cycle that will call on us to recalibrate our value system. Not to be outdone, Mercury, our planet of thoughts, communication and transportation, will kick off his own retrograde cycle in just over a month - and here's the best part: they will retrograde at the same time, over the same degree range between Aries and Pisces! These overlapping retrogrades involve all of the outer planets, the nodes, AND just for good measure, Saturn will retrograde over the same degrees later in the year. Curious to know what all of this means for you? I got you covered! Order my personalized astrology report, Dialogue, today, and let's get the conversation started!
